So you’re thinking about going vegan?

What Happens Once I Become Vegan?

Once you become vegan, you’ll quickly find that eating fruits and vegetables will become a very important part of your daily life!
Plus eating fruits and vegetables on a daily has it’s benefits!
For example…
Fruits and veggies come in a variety of colors. They’re flavorful and delicious.
And most importantly they are full of fiber, vitamins and minerals.
There are literally over 1,000 different varieties of vegetables in the world plus more than 2,000 different types of fruits.
So believe me when I say – you will never find yourself bored!
You can mix and match them to come up with some amazing dishes.
One thing we want to note…
When possible, always choose fresh and organic fruits and veggies over canned or frozen. Not only because they are better for you but they will taste better to you too!

VEGETABLES

Not only are vegetables nutritious, healthy and delicious – they are also good for your heart!
Vegetables are high in antioxidants, fiber and are great if you’re trying to burn fat and lose weight.
What’s great about vegetables is that you can eat them in abundance without any guilt!
Especially dark leafy greens!
You can eat it in your favorite salad, put them in a smoothie or make your favorite side dish.
You can’t go wrong with vegetables! They’re the building block to a great vegan diet!

Who doesn’t love fresh fruit?
Not only is fruit delicious but they have tons of vibrant colors and are packed full with vitamins!
You can buy your fruit fresh, frozen or even dried. It’s all good for you so you can’t go wrong!
Most fruit works great as snacks because it’s portable.
We also love that if you ever buy too much fresh fruit, you can always freeze it. Especially berries and bananas!
Frozen fruits are perfect for smoothies and nice cream. Especially on warm summer day. With fruit your options for smoothies and desserts are endless!

NUTS & SEEDS

Nuts and seeds not only provide you with healthy fats, but they also serve as a delicious treat!
Nuts and seeds are so very versatile and are a necessity when it comes to vegan diets!
They are great raw, in desserts, in cooked dishes and you can also turn them into different types of cheeses or even make your own plant based milk!
We always keep a variety of nuts and seeds in the pantry because they make a great snack in between meals or if you find yourself getting a little hungry.
Oh and another thing… nut butters!
You can use nut butters in sauces, on a sandwich, on fruit and vegetables or you can just eat it straight out the jar!
When buying nut butters, make sure you always choose just the nuts without any additional additives.
As a vegan nuts and seeds are a must have staple for your pantry!

DAIRY FREE MILK & BUTTER

Dairy free milk and butter products are a perfect addition to any vegan diet.
Vegan butters, cheeses and milk allow you to turn any standard recipe into a vegan recipe in a jiffy!
Plant based milks are great any time of the day but work well as a replace for daily milk in smoothies, baking and other recipes that normally require dairy.
As you can see, they’re a variety of milks and can be used for different dishes.
For example, we use oat milk in my overnight oatmeal, almond milk for baking, soy milk for my vegan mayo, and coconut milk for smoothies.
There are many dairy free options for you to try that you will never run out of ideas!

Condiments and sauces are a great way to add a variety of flavors to your vegan dishes.
One of the things we love most is taking a meal that we have made forever and changing it up by adding a new sauce!

When you’re vegan, snacks are LIFE!
Seriously… who doesn’t love a good vegan snack?
The only difference that you will find with the snacks below is that not only are they vegan but they are also plant based and healthy too!
I mean sure… we all know that oreos are vegan but for the purpose of this list we wanted to focus on healthier alternatives!
Also some of the snacks on this list can be parred together to create something incredible!
For example: hummus and tortilla chips are a hugs hit in our house!
